Horse Information

Owning a horse can be amazing and highly rewarding. They require a lot of commitment, hard work and money. They can live over 30 years but generally have lifespan of about 20-25 years. Horses require companionship such as other horses, ponies or even cattle, this is just as important as having regular human contact.  Female horses are called mares once they reach 4 years old. Before this age they are called fillies. The male horse is called a colt up until he reaches 4 years old when he then becomes a stallion. A castrated male is called a gelding, castration should be done before they are 2 years old.
